Dead by Daylight Buffs Dark Arrogance Again, Because Apparently Missing Wasn't Embarrassing Enough

Dead by Daylight patch 10.2.2 has changed Dark Arrogance again. As of October 20, the Killer perk gives 15/20/25% faster basic window vaulting and 10% shorter basic-attack cooldowns after successful, missed and obstructed attacks. The penalty remains: blinds and pallet stuns last 25% longer.

The big difference is successful hits. Dark Arrogance finally helps when your weapon connects with a Survivor, rather than only rewarding you for missing them or introducing your blade to a nearby wall.

There is a catch. Missed and obstructed attacks previously enjoyed 15/20/25% shorter cooldowns. That's now 10% across all three tiers. Your successful swings have improved; your terrible ones have had their benefits cut.

Dark Arrogance now rewards successful hits. Wonderful, assuming the game actually lets you hear them. Find out why Killer attack sounds are disappearing in Dead by Daylight 10.2.0, and whether there's a reliable fix.

During the September Public Test Build, Dark Arrogance reduced recovery time after successful attacks, too. Behaviour Interactive subsequently removed that benefit for the October 6 live update, explaining that stacking successful-hit cooldown reductions with other perks had made chases too short.

Then came the feedback. According to Behaviour's patch 10.2.2 notes, the adjustment went too far, so successful-hit recovery is back at a lower 10%. Meanwhile, the missed-attack benefit has been brought down to match.

At this point the perk has been buffed, restrained and partially rebuilt in such quick succession that it ought to come with a little cardboard sign saying, Please don't get attached to this configuration.

Apparently, Killer perks have another problem: Halloween Void Crystals are reportedly repairing generators even when certain slowdown effects should interfere. Discover why Hex: Ruin might be helping the Survivors. Because supernatural murder wasn't complicated enough.

Should Killers equip Dark Arrogance now?

There is a sensible argument for trying it on Killers who rely heavily on basic attacks. A successful hit now lets you recover sooner and resume pursuing your target, while the existing vault-speed boost can help around windows.

But don't mistake that for a guaranteed shorter chase. The 25% longer blind and pallet-stun durations haven't gone anywhere. A Survivor who catches you at a pallet can still make you pay for all that confidence, with interest.

And if you mainly equipped Dark Arrogance to soften the consequences of missed swings, the new version offers less help. At Tier III, that recovery reduction has dropped from 25% to 10%. The perk is now more useful across different attack outcomes, but noticeably less generous when things go wrong.

Combining it with perks such as Unrelenting or Help Wanted might sound tempting, although the precise effects of stacking recovery bonuses need checking before anyone starts promising absurdly short animations. The earlier PTB balancing issue is reason enough to be careful about that.

Dark Arrogance is worth revisiting if your Killer build revolves around basic attacks and aggressive window chases. Whether it becomes a genuinely strong competitive choice needs gameplay evidence, not a victory parade assembled from patch-note percentages.

Behaviour says it will continue monitoring the perk. Given its recent adventures, perhaps don't throw away the packaging.

Short FAQ

What changed about Dark Arrogance in Dead by Daylight patch 10.2.2?

Dark Arrogance now reduces basic-attack cooldowns by 10% after successful, missed and obstructed attacks. Previously, the cooldown reduction only applied to missed and obstructed attacks.

Does Dark Arrogance work on successful hits now?

Yes. Successful basic attacks now receive a 10% shorter cooldown, allowing Killers to recover faster after hitting a Survivor.

Was Dark Arrogance buffed or nerfed?

Both. Successful attacks now benefit from faster recovery, but missed and obstructed attacks receive a smaller cooldown reduction than before. The overall value depends on your Killer and playstyle.

What is the downside of Dark Arrogance?

Dark Arrogance increases blind and pallet-stun durations by 25%. Survivors who successfully stun or blind you can therefore punish your aggressive play more severely.

Is Dark Arrogance worth using after patch 10.2.2?

It's worth considering for basic-attack-focused Killers, especially those benefiting from faster window vaults. However, its effectiveness depends on your build and how often Survivors punish you with pallets or blinds. It's too early to call it meta-defining.

I started CRIMENET because too much gaming coverage feels afraid to have an opinion. Reviews become press releases, every game is "solid," and somehow everyone leaves happy except the reader.

Not here.

CRIMENET covers crime, heist, villain and horror games, with GTA Online as one of our main ongoing beats. Not the heroic kind. The kind where you rob banks, build empires, betray your crew, or become the monster everyone else is trying to survive.

I don't do review scores. The internet already has enough people arguing whether a game deserves a 72 instead of a 71, like they're negotiating a hostage release over a single percentage point. I'd rather tell you what the game actually feels like to play and whether it's worth your time.
