Yes, you can play Jacksepticeye's new HITMAN mission for free. The Host runs from October 29 to November 25, 2026, with access through HITMAN World of Assassination or its Free Demo on supported platforms. The paid Host Pack is optional and provides permanent access to additional mission content and exclusive equipment. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players are the exception, as both require ownership of the full game.

Enjoying Jacksepticeye's HITMAN mission but wondering whether the full game deserves your money? Our HITMAN World of Assassination review explains why Agent 47's career in professional murder is so bloody addictive.

How to Play Jacksepticeye's HITMAN Mission for Free

Jacksepticeye, real name Seán McLoughlin, plays Finn Colton, better known as Finnvictus. He's a wealthy content creator whose questionable business practices have attracted some rather unpleasant attention. Following a creator's suspicious disappearance, Agent 47 infiltrates Colton's heavily monitored compound in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, posing as Tobias Rieper, a supposed thought leader appearing on the Finn and Friends podcast. A professional assassin pretending to be a thought leader. Finally, somebody on a podcast who's genuinely qualified to silence people.

Existing HITMAN World of Assassination owners with access to Hawke's Bay can play The Host Elusive Target during the event. Newcomers can download the Free Demo to experience The Host Assignment without buying the full game, subject to platform restrictions. Find the relevant downloads through IO Interactive's official website.

The Elusive Target and Special Assignment are different versions of the collaboration. Free Demo access doesn't guarantee identical access to every challenge or reward. Traditional Elusive Targets also have strict attempt restrictions, so this isn't necessarily the place to experiment with seventeen increasingly stupid assassination plans.

The Host Free vs Paid: What's the Difference?

The optional Host Pack provides permanent access to The Host Assignment and The Collab, a two-level Elusive Target Arcade contract, alongside exclusive equipment and cosmetics.

The equipment includes the Thought Leader Suit with Gloves, Persona "Suit", Demon Dakota 12G shotgun, DXTR PlayFactory Controller, Creator Soundboard and Kwineeny Collectible, plus Freelancer Safehouse cosmetics. Some decorations require progression before they can be displayed.

Buying the pack doesn't make the original Elusive Target permanently available. You're purchasing the specific Arcade and Special Assignment versions. If you only want to experience Jacksepticeye's appearance, try the free option before opening your wallet.

The Host Rewards and Deadlines

IO Interactive's Season of The Host roadmap lists several rewards with different requirements. Completing the mission doesn't automatically unlock everything.

  • Hijacker Duck: Connect an IOI Account and participate in The Host between October 29 and November 25. This remotely activated duck releases an EMP charge.

  • Royal Purple Banana: Link your Twitch account to your IOI Account and watch 60 cumulative minutes of eligible HITMAN World of Assassination streams between October 29 and November 9.

  • Vampire Magician Suit: Complete the returning Like Mist challenge, available from October 29. This separate Paris challenge involves escaping your pursuers.

The Royal Purple Banana has the earliest deadline, November 9. You don't need to watch Jacksepticeye specifically; eligible broadcasts under the HITMAN World of Assassination Twitch category count. Just connect your accounts beforehand. Watching an hour of meticulously planned virtual murder only to discover your accounts weren't linked would be a magnificent administrative humiliation.

The Hijacker Duck remains obtainable until November 25, provided you meet the account and participation requirements. Apparently, the ICA has finally realised that hiring weapons engineers directly from a bath toy factory produces interesting results. The Vampire Magician Suit requires completing Like Mist rather than participating in The Host.

Had enough of Agent 47's beautifully organised assassinations? Explore CRIMENET's Play as Villain hub for more games where you're the criminal, the monster or the reason everybody else needs therapy. Being the good guy is terribly overrated.

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Restrictions

Nintendo players face different requirements. Both Switch and Switch 2 require ownership of HITMAN World of Assassination to access The Host. The Free Demo route available elsewhere doesn't remove that restriction. The paid Host Pack also arrives later on Nintendo systems, launching November 10 rather than October 29.

Players on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and supported Apple devices should use their respective storefronts and check version-specific requirements before downloading or purchasing anything.

Is The Host Pack Worth Buying?

For returning HITMAN players who enjoy replaying contracts and experimenting with assassination methods, permanent access to The Collab and The Host Assignment offers a reasonable incentive. Anyone simply curious about Jacksepticeye's performance should experience the free content first.

The Host event ends November 25, but the Royal Purple Banana Twitch Drop expires November 9. Prioritise the banana. The murder can wait.

About the Editor
Naamloos3.png

I'm Niels Gys, founder and editor of CRIMENET GAZETTE. I write about crime, heist, villain, and horror games because somebody has to separate genuine criminal masterpieces from games that couldn't organize a successful mugging.

Outside the website, I'm the frontman of JETBLACK SMILE, a Belgian rock 'n' roll band that sounds like bad decisions played through loud guitars. Turns out writing about chaos, criminals, and morally questionable life choices isn't all that different from writing songs.

I started CRIMENET because too much gaming coverage feels afraid to have an opinion. Reviews become press releases, every game is "solid," and somehow everyone leaves happy except the reader.

Not here.

CRIMENET covers crime, heist, villain and horror games, with GTA Online as one of our main ongoing beats. Not the heroic kind. The kind where you rob banks, build empires, betray your crew, or become the monster everyone else is trying to survive.

I don't do review scores. The internet already has enough people arguing whether a game deserves a 72 instead of a 71, like they're negotiating a hostage release over a single percentage point. I'd rather tell you what the game actually feels like to play and whether it's worth your time.

Every article is built on research, evidence, and an unhealthy intolerance for mediocre game design.

Strong opinions are welcome. Invented facts are not.

Think less "trusted reviewer."

More "your inside man in the digital underworld."

I'm not here to save the world.

I'm here to tell you which crimes are worth committing. 🤘
