Crime Boss Is Free Right Now and Costs €1.99 to Keep

Crime Boss: Rockay City is free to play on Steam until September 14 at 10:00 AM PT. If you decide organised crime suits you, the full game is currently 90% off at €1.99, with that discount running until September 24.
Yes. €1.99.
At that price, stealing the game would be financially irresponsible.
Want another robbery where the game actually expects you to think before introducing the ceiling to buckshot? Our PAYDAY 3 Heists Ranked separates the magnificent crimes from the jobs that should have remained a suspicious email attachment.
So what are you actually getting?
Crime Boss is almost offensively on-brand for CRIMENET. It is a 1-4 player FPS built around robberies and heists, with jobs that can be approached through stealth or by introducing everyone in the building to your firearms.
The bigger attraction is the solo roguelike campaign. You are building a criminal operation in Rockay City, hiring crew members, expanding your territory, improving your arsenal and trying to become the city's crime boss.
There are also co-op missions, a linear Story Mode and Rockay Rumble, but the basic sales pitch here requires remarkably little interpretive dance: rob things, take things, build a criminal empire with the proceeds.
This is a game where "career progression" involves increasingly organised theft.
Finally, LinkedIn for us.
Crime Boss costs less than lunch. Unfortunately, this is how the backlog acquires property. Head into our Heist Games hub for more games built around stealing things professionally.
Is Crime Boss actually worth trying?
Free is doing a lot of useful work here.
Crime Boss currently sits at 73% positive across its wider English-language Steam reviews, while recent reviews are Mixed at around 68% positive. That is hardly the sort of unanimous reception where church bells ring and Geoff Keighley descends through the ceiling holding a trophy.
But you don't have to buy the reputation.
You can simply play the bloody thing.
The free weekend makes this unusually easy to recommend to anyone who likes PAYDAY-style robberies, stealth, criminal crews or the idea of slowly turning an entire city into their personal HR problem. Download it, try the heists, poke around the campaign and discover whether Rockay City's particular flavour of organised crime works for you.
Then comes the genuinely ridiculous part.
If it does, keeping Crime Boss currently costs €1.99.
Gaming has somehow reached the point where a complete criminal empire costs less than whatever Starbucks is currently charging to make milk nervous.
The free weekend ends September 14. The 90% discount sticks around until September 24.
Commit accordingly.
