To unlock Clampdown in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, complete The Heist, finish any two gigs for Wakako Okada, and wait for her message titled “A Request from King.” This starts the new Edgerunners 2 quest, which rewards you with King's five-piece outfit and the Coronation Iconic Tech Revolver. Apparently, even after pulling off one of Night City's most spectacular robberies, Wakako still needs proof that you're qualified for another criminal assignment. Two completed gigs should do it. Nothing inspires confidence quite like an assassin with a loyalty card.

Clampdown is only one of Update 2.5's new toys. See how Cyberpunk 2077's new dual-wielding system works, which weapons qualify, and why Night City apparently decided one handgun was an unacceptable shortage.

How to Start the Clampdown Quest

Clampdown doesn't automatically appear in your Journal after installing Update 2.5. There are three requirements to meet first:

  1. Complete The Heist. Finish the main story mission involving the Konpeki Plaza robbery.

  2. Complete two Wakako gigs. Any two gigs assigned by Wakako Okada should count. There's no need to complete her entire catalogue of criminal errands.

  3. Wait for Wakako's message. Once you've met both requirements, she'll eventually contact you with a message titled “A Request from King.”

Open the message and follow the instructions to begin Clampdown. You'll be directed towards a meeting near BuryGer in Arroyo, Santo Domingo, close to the MLK & Brandon fast-travel point. And that's your ticket into the new quest. No secret dialogue choices, no elaborate initiation ceremony, and thankfully no requirement to become the most reliable contractor in Westbrook.

What if Wakako Doesn't Send the Message?

First, make sure you're actually running Update 2.5. Having a sufficiently advanced save file won't help if the new content hasn't been installed. Next, check your completed gigs. The requirement is specifically two finished Wakako gigs, not two discovered gigs, two unfinished jobs sitting in your Journal, or two gigs completed for another fixer.

If you've satisfied everything, continue playing or try advancing the in-game clock before checking your messages again. CD Projekt Red hasn't specified an exact waiting period. Some walkthroughs report receiving Wakako's message after skipping time, but that doesn't mean everyone must wait precisely 12 or 24 hours. So there's no reason to spend three consecutive in-game weeks sleeping in V's apartment, waking up every morning to check whether Night City's criminal employment agency has finally processed your application.

Clampdown introduces King's five-piece gear set, officially confirmed by CD Projekt Red, along with the Coronation Iconic Tech Revolver identified in post-release walkthroughs.

Iconic Tech Revolver

According to post-release gameplay guides, King's Bulletproof Vest provides +25 armour, while the Coronation is a Tier 4 Iconic Tech Revolver featuring a +200% headshot damage multiplier and +75% armour penetration. The revolver is arguably the more interesting prize here. A complete outfit is lovely, especially if your wardrobe currently resembles the contents of a charity shop following an armed robbery. But a powerful Iconic Tech Revolver offers something considerably more useful when negotiations break down. Walkthroughs also report no separate Eurodollar payout from the fixer, making the equipment the main material reward for completing Clampdown.

Do You Need Phantom Liberty or a New Save?

The official unlock requirements don't list Phantom Liberty as necessary. Clampdown is introduced through Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.5 rather than being presented as expansion-exclusive content. You don't need to finish the entire main story, complete every Wakako gig, or start another playthrough either. Your existing V can pick up the new assignment once the prerequisites are satisfied. Considering the average Night City resident has enough unfinished business to occupy three lifetimes, that's probably for the best.

About the Editor
Naamloos3.png

I'm Niels Gys, founder and editor of CRIMENET GAZETTE. I write about crime, heist, villain, and horror games because somebody has to separate genuine criminal masterpieces from games that couldn't organize a successful mugging.

Outside the website, I'm the frontman of JETBLACK SMILE, a Belgian rock 'n' roll band that sounds like bad decisions played through loud guitars. Turns out writing about chaos, criminals, and morally questionable life choices isn't all that different from writing songs.

I started CRIMENET because too much gaming coverage feels afraid to have an opinion. Reviews become press releases, every game is "solid," and somehow everyone leaves happy except the reader.

Not here.

CRIMENET covers crime, heist, villain and horror games, with GTA Online as one of our main ongoing beats. Not the heroic kind. The kind where you rob banks, build empires, betray your crew, or become the monster everyone else is trying to survive.

I don't do review scores. The internet already has enough people arguing whether a game deserves a 72 instead of a 71, like they're negotiating a hostage release over a single percentage point. I'd rather tell you what the game actually feels like to play and whether it's worth your time.

Every article is built on research, evidence, and an unhealthy intolerance for mediocre game design.

Strong opinions are welcome. Invented facts are not.

Think less "trusted reviewer."

More "your inside man in the digital underworld."

I'm here to tell you which crimes are worth committing. 🤘
