Fallout 76 Uninvited Guest Not Spawning? You Don't Need It for the 3 Weapons

The Uninvited Guest in Fallout 76's Mischief Night event isn't guaranteed to appear, and there's no confirmed spawn rate. Some players have completed more than a dozen events without seeing it. Others encounter the thing repeatedly and still don't receive the rewards they're after.

Fortunately, Acceptable Overkill, Commander's Charge and Crushing Blow are also available as rare Daily Ops rewards, confirmed in Bethesda's September 15 Slasher patch notes.

The Wanted Poster plans are another matter. There's no verified alternative acquisition route for those, so collectors may have to keep hunting the Phantom until Mischief Night ends on October 20.

Glowing green spectral enemy haunts Fallout 76's Mischief Night Halloween event, surrounded by jack-o'-lanterns, toxic green flames and a crashed military aircraft beneath a sinister full moon.

Still trying to squeeze every reward out of Mischief Night before October 20? Our Fallout 76 Mischief Night guide covers the event, rewards and farming strategy. Because apparently Halloween now requires a project manager.

How rare is the Uninvited Guest?

Mischief Night takes place at Rapidan Camp, where players gather to cause enough property damage to keep an insurance company occupied until Christmas. Once the event finishes, there's a chance the Uninvited Pint-Sized Phantom appears as a special Party Crasher.

Bethesda describes Uninvited Guests as random additions to eligible Public Events. Their frequency can change, but there's no officially confirmed percentage for this particular encounter.

Players have reported twelve events without a single appearance, while others encounter the Phantom several times in considerably fewer attempts. Naturally, this has led to speculation that the spawn system is broken.

Perhaps it is. But these reports don't prove that.

Randomness can produce ridiculous streaks without anything malfunctioning. Unfortunately, understanding probability doesn't make the experience any less irritating.

Mischief Night only runs once per hour. Every unsuccessful attempt means waiting for another opportunity, completing the event again and hoping the Phantom finally remembers its social obligations.

After ten unsuccessful events, you've potentially arranged ten separate hours around somebody who wasn't even invited.

At that point, you're organising a missing-person investigation for a murderer.

The three weapons are available through Daily Ops

The Uninvited Pint-Sized Phantom has three named weapons in its special reward pool:

Weapon

Alternative source

Acceptable Overkill

Rare Daily Ops reward

Commander's Charge

Rare Daily Ops reward

Crushing Blow

Rare Daily Ops reward

Bethesda explicitly listed all three as rare Daily Ops rewards in the September 15 Slasher update.

So why spend your entire evening waiting for an enemy that might never appear?

Daily Ops has its own RNG, certainly. But it removes one particularly obnoxious obstacle: needing the Phantom to appear before you even have a chance at its loot.

Think about what the Mischief Night route asks of you. Wait for the hourly event, complete it, hope the Phantom spawns, participate in killing it and then hope the reward system gives you something useful.

You've entered a lottery where winning the first draw merely earns you a ticket for the second. Somewhere in Appalachia, a casino owner is looking at this arrangement and thinking it's a bit excessive.

Daily Ops is a confirmed alternative for all three weapons. Whether it's faster depends on the reward probabilities, but at least you have another option.

Unfortunately, the Wanted Posters are still a problem

The Phantom's special rewards also include:

  • Wanted Poster: Pint-Sized Phantom

  • Wanted Poster: Slasher

  • Ghost Boy

Ghost Boy has been documented elsewhere in The Slasher reward ecosystem, including Pint-Sized Phantom loot.

The Wanted Poster plans are less convenient. There's currently no sufficiently established alternative acquisition route for either plan, so collectors still have a reason to pursue the Uninvited Guest.

And that's where limited-time events become particularly irritating.

A weapon available elsewhere is one thing. A seasonal collectible with an approaching deadline is another. Tell someone a decorative poster might become harder to obtain after October 20, and suddenly they're prepared to reorganise their entire evening around a piece of paper.

Civilisation has collapsed, radioactive monsters roam the countryside, and we're still prepared to endure enormous inconvenience over limited-edition wall decoration.

When the Phantom appears, try not to die

Players have also reported the Phantom dying so quickly under concentrated fire that they struggle to participate. Others describe dying during the encounter, respawning too far away and missing loot or challenge credit.

These reports don't establish a confirmed technical bug. Participation requirements, timing, latency and possible encounter issues haven't been sufficiently separated.

When the Phantom appears, prioritise participating immediately. Avoid wandering off or taking unnecessary risks that could leave you respawning while everyone else kills it.

Because imagine finally encountering this bastard after twelve unsuccessful events, getting killed, and returning just in time to discover somebody has turned him into radioactive porridge.

You'd have every right to consider becoming the next Slasher.

There's also no verified trick to force an appearance. Server hopping or performing interpretive dance around a pumpkin shouldn't be mistaken for confirmed spawn mechanics.

Should you keep farming the Uninvited Guest?

For the three weapons? Not exclusively. Daily Ops offers another confirmed acquisition route.

For the Wanted Poster plans? Yes, if you want them badly enough. Until another reliable source is established, the Phantom remains worth pursuing during the event.

Whether its spawn system is broken remains unknown. Player frustration is understandable, but inconsistent encounters alone aren't proof of a malfunction.

Bethesda has somehow created a Halloween event where thousands of players spend two weeks desperately hoping an unwanted guest arrives, only to immediately surround him and beat him to death for a couple of posters.

Somehow, the apocalypse has made social gatherings even worse.

The Uninvited Guest is only one corpse-shaped inconvenience in Bethesda's ongoing murder mystery. Explore our Fallout 76 Slasher storyline coverage to see what else is happening in Appalachia. Apparently the apocalypse wasn't sufficiently understaffed in the homicide department.

Fallout 76 Uninvited Guest FAQ

Why isn't the Uninvited Guest spawning in Fallout 76?

The Uninvited Pint-Sized Phantom is a random encounter after Mischief Night, not a guaranteed boss. Several players report completing more than ten events without seeing it. That doesn't necessarily mean the spawn system is broken.

What is the Uninvited Guest spawn rate?

The exact spawn rate is unknown. Bethesda hasn't confirmed a percentage, and player reports vary too widely to establish a reliable figure.

Can you get Uninvited Guest weapons from Daily Ops?

Yes. Acceptable Overkill, Commander's Charge and Crushing Blow are all available as rare Daily Ops rewards, as confirmed in Bethesda's September 15 Slasher patch notes.

Can you get the Wanted Poster plans without the Uninvited Guest?

No reliable alternative acquisition route has been verified for the Wanted Poster: Pint-Sized Phantom and Wanted Poster: Slasher plans.

When does Mischief Night end in Fallout 76?

Mischief Night runs from October 6 to October 20, 2026. Collectors should prioritise the seasonal rewards before the event ends.

I'm Niels Gys, founder and editor of CRIMENET GAZETTE. I write about crime, heist, villain, and horror games because somebody has to separate genuine criminal masterpieces from games that couldn't organize a successful mugging.

Outside the website, I'm the frontman of JETBLACK SMILE, a Belgian rock 'n' roll band that sounds like bad decisions played through loud guitars. Turns out writing about chaos, criminals, and morally questionable life choices isn't all that different from writing songs.

I started CRIMENET because too much gaming coverage feels afraid to have an opinion. Reviews become press releases, every game is "solid," and somehow everyone leaves happy except the reader.

Not here.

CRIMENET covers crime, heist, villain and horror games, with GTA Online as one of our main ongoing beats. Not the heroic kind. The kind where you rob banks, build empires, betray your crew, or become the monster everyone else is trying to survive.

I don't do review scores. The internet already has enough people arguing whether a game deserves a 72 instead of a 71, like they're negotiating a hostage release over a single percentage point. I'd rather tell you what the game actually feels like to play and whether it's worth your time.

Every article is built on research, evidence, and an unhealthy intolerance for mediocre game design.

Strong opinions are welcome. Invented facts are not.
