GTA 6 Pre-Load Starts November 10, and It Wants 212 GB of Your SSD

Grand Theft Auto VI pre-loading begins November 10, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar Games has confirmed. The download requires up to 212 GB of storage, depending on your console, ahead of the game's November 19 launch.
That's an impressive amount of space for a game about stealing things. Before you've even stolen your first car, Rockstar may have already evicted half your game library.

212 GB of Leonida is heading for your SSD. Curious what you'll actually be doing with it? Discover how GTA VI's car theft system works, including police trackers, criminal fences and the unfortunate possibility of your stolen car reporting you to the authorities.
GTA 6 Pre-Load Times for PS5 and Xbox
Rockstar has confirmed the following schedule:
PlayStation 5: November 10 at 12:00 AM (midnight) in your local time zone.
Xbox Series X|S: November 10 at 12:00 AM GMT, simultaneously worldwide.
Physical code-in-box editions: Available from retailers starting November 12.
Official release: November 19, 2026.
The difference between the PlayStation and Xbox schedules matters. PlayStation owners can begin downloading at local midnight, while Xbox players must convert the worldwide GMT start time to their own time zone.
For example, Xbox pre-loading begins at 1:00 AM CET on November 10 in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
Pre-loading allows players to download the game before release. It does not grant early access to Leonida, regardless of how enthusiastically you stare at the launch button.
GTA 6 Needs Up to 212 GB of Free Space
Rockstar says the pre-load requires up to 212 GB of storage, although the exact requirement depends on the device.
That's a substantial chunk of console storage, particularly for anyone whose SSD currently resembles a digital hoarder's basement.
Players should start clearing space before November 10 rather than discovering the problem when the download becomes available. Rockstar hasn't specified a separate installation size for each console in its announcement, so 212 GB should be treated as the announced upper requirement rather than an identical download size across platforms.
For installation instructions, Rockstar has published a dedicated GTA 6 pre-load support page.
Rockstar Is Also Releasing a Free Leonida Map
On November 19, Rockstar will add a free printable poster featuring GTA VI's cover artwork and a map of Leonida to the official GTA VI website.
A physical, double-sided version will follow in the Rockstar Store shortly after launch, priced at $0.99 or included free with any Rockstar Store purchase.
It's a welcome little extra, particularly for anyone planning to familiarise themselves with Leonida before embarking on a criminal career that will almost certainly involve ignoring every road on the map.
For now, the immediate priority is considerably less glamorous: make room on your SSD. Jason and Lucia's criminal empire can wait until November 19. Your storage problem cannot.
Before Jason and Lucia begin their criminal careers, explore our GTA VI Crime Hub. Robberies, gangs, money, police and the glorious business of behaving terribly in Leonida, all in one place.
