PAYDAY 3 Turbid Station Stealth Guide: Rob the Damn Train Properly

Turbid Station gets a lot easier once you realise you can work pretty much everything at once. Find both prototype boxcars and hack their Control Panels first. That opens the trains and reveals what you actually need to get each satellite prototype. From there, start solving both trains at the same time instead of finishing one before touching the other. You only need the two satellite prototypes to escape. The other 18 bags are optional.
Also: you can hide underneath the boxcars.
It took me four runs to realise this.
Four.
I had been sneaking around corners, waiting for guards to turn around and generally behaving like a man trying to cross a railway yard without a ticket, while apparently the game had built an entire criminal motorway underneath the trains.
Use it.

Still robbing trains after Turbid Station? Our PAYDAY 3 Heists Ranked puts the jobs in order, from criminal masterpiece to “who approved this fucking road trip?”
Quick Route
Find both prototype boxcars.
Hack both Control Panels immediately. This opens the trains.
Check inside each train to learn what security method you're dealing with.
Start both objective chains and work them simultaneously.
In stealth, use the space underneath the trains to move and hide.
Secure both satellite prototypes.
Escape, or stay for all 20 bags if greed has taken over the planning committee.
That fourth point is really the whole heist.
You can have both Control Units hacking while you're already looking for the keycard, SSD or whatever else the second train wants. You can basically work every objective simultaneously. There is very little reason to finish one train before touching the other.
Turbid Station looks like a big complicated railyard heist. Once you stop doing things one at a time, it becomes surprisingly quick.
Find Both Prototype Trains First
Your two target prototypes can be IO, GANYMEDE, CALLISTO or EUROPA. The combinations and security methods can vary, so I wouldn't bother memorising something like "GANYMEDE means Red Keycard" based on one run.
I saw different combinations across Normal, Hard, Very Hard and Overkill.
What stayed useful every time was finding both target boxcars early and hacking their Control Units as soon as possible. The first hack opens the boxcar. Only then do you learn what that particular prototype needs before you can steal it.
Don't stand beside the Control Unit waiting for the bar to fill. That's how people end up staring at a computer in a videogame about armed robbery.
Start the hack and go do something else. Find the second target boxcar and get its Control Unit going. Once a train opens, check what it wants. If you need an SSD, go looking for it. If it asks for the Red Keycard, start checking its possible locations.
Turbid Station is remarkably happy to let you get on with one part of the heist while another part is still cooking.
So abuse that.
Red Keycard, Blue Keycard, QR Code, SSD and Keypad
The prototype trains use several different security methods.
Some require a Red Keycard. I found three Red Keycards together downstairs near a playing radio on one run, and another group of three between the boxcar lines near a radio. Their locations can vary, but the radios are worth remembering.
The Security Room downstairs needs a Blue Keycard. I found the Blue Keycard sitting on boxes downstairs.
For the QR code, find the marked supervisor and stay close while you obtain it, then use it to unlock the QR gate.
Other trains require an SSD, which you'll need to find and use on the corresponding secured door.
Then there's the Control Room/keypad setup, where you need access to the Control Room and the code for the prototype.
So this supposedly secure facility has keycards lying around, a supervisor walking around with the QR access you need, an SSD that opens another door and a keypad code available through its own systems.
I don't know who did the security audit at QUANTZ, but I hope they charged by the hour.
The important thing is that you don't know which combination you're getting until you've identified the targets. That's another reason to get both trains started early. Find out what nonsense the railway has prepared for you first, then decide your route.

Yes, You Can Hide Under the Trains
This completely changed stealth for me.
Get underneath the boxcars.
You can crawl under them and use that space to hide and move around the yard. Once I discovered it, I immediately wondered how I'd managed to spend four runs behaving as though the bottom half of every train was protected by international law.
It isn't.
Normal stealth was already extremely easy compared with the core PAYDAY 3 heists. There were enough radios available that I never really felt pressured by the guards, and once you add the ability to disappear underneath half the bloody railway, the whole place becomes very forgiving.
The trains stop being obstacles and become cover.
That is particularly useful because you're constantly moving between objectives. Start a hack, duck under a train, cross over to whatever you need next, wait out a patrol underneath another one, come back when the hack is done.
Very Hard does start pushing back. I encountered lasers inside the boxcars, which is a lovely way for the game to wait until you've finally become comfortable and then put an invisible tripwire across your confidence.
Still, the basic stealth route doesn't really change.
Find both targets. Get both moving. Stay underneath the trains whenever the surface becomes inconvenient.
Turbid Station Loud Route
Loud follows much the same logic, except everyone has guns now.
Find the two prototype boxcars and start both Control Unit hacks. Depending on the run, you'll then be dealing with things like breaking or breaching gates, accessing the Control Room or hacking the Vault Access Computer.
One thing worth watching: cops can interrupt the Vault Access Computer hack.
So don't start that one and wander off to another postcode.
Once you've secured both prototypes, you can trigger the escape. Depending on the run, that can be by boat or helicopter. With the helicopter escape, you'll light the flare and survive until the getaway arrives.
Normal loud surprised me with how easy it was. Compared with the core heists, Turbid Station on Normal barely seemed interested in stopping me. The two required prototypes are quick once you understand the yard, and because you're free to work objectives in parallel, there isn't much dead time for the police to turn the place into a war.
Unless, of course, you decide to stay for all the loot.
Which brings us to the traditional PAYDAY problem.
The helicopter is here.
The job is done.
You have the satellites.
But somewhere in that railway yard are another 18 bags.
And suddenly four professional criminals who have successfully stolen experimental satellite technology are refusing to leave because there might still be something valuable in a shed.
What Changes on Hard, Very Hard and Overkill?
The prototype combinations changed between my runs.
On Hard stealth I got GANYMEDE and EUROPA. Very Hard gave me GANYMEDE and CALLISTO. Overkill gave me GANYMEDE and IO. Loud produced different combinations again.
The security methods moved around with them too.
That's why I wouldn't build a route around a specific prototype always having a specific lock. Learn the methods instead.
If it wants a Red Keycard, you know what you're looking for.
If it wants the SSD, go downstairs.
If it wants the QR code, find the supervisor.
If it sends you to the Control Room, deal with the keypad route.
And while you're doing any of that, something else should probably be hacking.
Very Hard also adds lasers inside the boxcars, so don't assume that opening the train means you're finished with security. I did, briefly. The train had other ideas.
Turbid Station is one robbery. We've got an entire PAYDAY Hub for heists, builds, stealth routes and the many administrative complications of taking things that aren't yours.
Do You Need All 20 Bags?
No.
You only need the two satellite prototypes to complete Turbid Station.
Everything else is optional.
On Normal especially, that makes the minimum route almost comically short once you know what you're doing. Get both prototypes moving at the same time, solve their security, secure them and leave.
Going for all 20 bags is a different run.
If that's what you're doing, grab optional loot while the main objectives are already running instead of leaving everything until the end. You're crossing the yard anyway. Search as you go.
Otherwise you eventually reach that wonderful PAYDAY moment where the escape is ready, the actual heist was successful ten minutes ago and you're still crawling around underneath a freight train because somewhere, somehow, there is one more fucking bag.
At that point Turbid Station is no longer holding you hostage.
You're doing it to yourself.
